As the holy month of Ramadan fast approaches, let us remember the vulnerable families in Afghanistan who are in dire need of our support today. According to recent estimates by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, more than half of the country’s population, approximately 23.7 million people, are in need of humanitarian assistance just to survive by the year 2024. This includes vulnerable families who are living in extreme poverty and famine.
In less than ten days, thousands of children and vulnerable families in Afghanistan will begin observing their fasts from sunrise to sunset with their loved ones. However, these unprecedented times have made it even more challenging for children who work on the streets while fasting for long days with limited access to clean water, food, health services, and other basic needs.
What will be distributed during our campaign?
This year, CWB aims to serve as a bridge of assistance between you and families who are in dire need of help. By donating $100 CAD, you can help CWB provide Food Relief packages to families who face the risk of starvation during the holy month of Ramadan. These packages will include one month’s worth of grocery supplies, consisting of essential items such as:
- Rice (25 kg)
- Flour (50 kg)
- Oil (10 L)
- Beans (4 kg)
- Lentils (4 kg)
- Tea (1 kg)
- Sugar
- Salt
- Potatoes (4 kg)
- Onions (4 kg)
These packages will be distributed to vulnerable families who are mostly widows with child labourers, orphans, disabled, and elderly living in different provinces in Afghanistan, especially those heavily affected by the humanitarian crisis.
